Substance Abuse Counselor Outpatient

Youth For Tomorrow (YFT) is a faith-based, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1986 by Hall of Fame football coach Joe Gibbs. YFT is a large, diverse, and experienced organization committed to serving children, adolescents, adults, and families. Youth For Tomorrow Behavioral Health Services is seeking a licensed substance abuse counselor to provide outpatient services at our Woodbridge, Virginia office. The clinician will provide both mental health and substance use assessments and treatment services to adolescents and adults. YFT-BHS provides outpatient substance use treatment at the ASAM 1.0 level of care. The clinician must be knowledgeable about ASAM criteria and able to assess patients, determine appropriate treatment needs, provide outpatient treatment, and make referrals to higher levels of care when clinically indicated. Salary Range: 100k-103k The Clinician Must Be Able To Conduct comprehensive behavioral health and substance use intakes and assessments. Provide individual and potentially group treatment for mental health and substance use disorders. Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans. Provide services to adolescents and adults at the ASAM 1.0 outpatient level of care. Conduct and document substance use screenings, including coordination of drug testing when appropriate. Provide clinical supervision for staff pursuing the Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) credential in Virginia. Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation. Collaborate with families, referral sources, community partners, and other treatment providers. This position will maintain a weekly caseload of approximately 22 to 25 completed sessions, depending on the number of CSAC supervision assignments, group treatment when needed, and other assigned clinical responsibilities. Schedule and Work Setting Four days per week in the Woodbridge office from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m Mon thru Wed and Thurs 9am to 5pm. Fridays are exclusively virtual, 9am to 5pm with all services provided through telehealth that day. The Woodbridge office has a well-established team of therapists and strong community support. Behavioral Health Services YFT-BHS serves children beginning at age five, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. We provide services to individuals who are uninsured or underinsured and accept most private insurance plans, Medicaid, and Medicare. Our outpatient behavioral health services are delivered through a hybrid model of in-person and telehealth sessions. YFT-BHS maintains offices throughout Northern Virginia and Richmond. Qualifications The successful candidate must: Hold a graduate degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related behavioral health field. Be licensed in Virginia to provide independent mental health services, preferably as an LPC, LCSW, or LSATP. Hold a CSAC credential or possess equivalent education, training, and experience in substance use treatment. Meet Virginia requirements to provide clinical supervision to individuals pursuing the CSAC credential. Have experience conducting both mental health and substance use assessments. Have knowledge of ASAM criteria and the ability to determine appropriate levels of care. Have experience providing outpatient substance use treatment at the ASAM 1.0 level of care. Understand drug-screening procedures and applicable substance use policies. Possess the clinical skills necessary to assess treatment needs and provide appropriate interventions. Communicate effectively with patients, parents or guardians, staff, referral sources, and community partners. Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and decision-making. Adapt to changing needs while remaining focused on treatment and organizational goals. Maintain the required schedule, including three evenings per week in the Woodbridge office.
