Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients within the Endoscopy/acute care setting, applying nursing knowledge and the established care plan; monitor vitals, pain, and response to therapies.
• Collaborate with physicians, perioperative teams, and interdisciplinary colleagues to develop and adjust individualized care plans, establish goals, and coordinate patient progression through preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative steps.
• Administer medications, manage IV therapy, monitor for adverse effects, and perform Endoscopy-specific nursing interventions compliant with orders, including equipment readiness, sterile technique, and procedure support.
• Provide pre-procedure education and postoperative discharge instructions; reinforce infection prevention practices; document education provided and patient understanding; engage family as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record; participate in quality improvement activities and contribute to patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
• Participate in required call rotation with a 1-hour response time; be prepared for weekend coverage as scheduled and coordinate with the team to ensure continuous patient care.

Requirements

• Active New York State RN licensure
• Minimum 1 year Endoscopy (Endo) RN experience in an acute care setting
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NIHSS not required
• Ability to work a 4x10 schedule with early start times (approximately 6:30–7:30 am depending on role) and to participate in a call rotation with a 1-hour response time
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-family education skills
• Ability to function effectively in a high-acuity Endoscopy/acute care environment and adhere to infection prevention and safety protocols
