Material Handler / Forklift - Ingredient Storage 2nd Shift - Altavista, VA Plant

Abbott seeks a Material Handler for its Altavista, Virginia nutrition manufacturing facility. The role involves operating forklifts and material handling equipment to receive, verify, and stage raw ingredients for production while maintaining inventory accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift and material handling equipment to unload raw materials from trucks, rail cars, and tankers
• Verify supplier documentation completeness and accuracy before receiving materials
• Count and stage raw materials for production while ensuring inventory system records match physical inventory
• Complete inter-plant transfers and assist with cycle counting activities
• Maintain compliance with FDA, OSHA, and company safety and operational procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum two years of forklift operation experience
• Knowledge of inventory control systems such as MITS or AMAPS
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to perform continuous standing, walking, and equipment operation

Compensation: $17.15–$34.25/hour
