RN Emergency Department

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients, identifying their needs, and coordinating with the healthcare team. This role involves supervising Licensed Practical Nurses and support staff, maintaining accurate patient records, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment, and delivering high-quality care during crisis and emergent situations. Strong communication, organizational skills, and proficiency in electronic documentation are essential. A minimum of two years of ER nursing experience and appropriate certifications are required. Responsibilities:

• Assess and identify patient needs in the Emergency Department and provide skilled nursing care.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of LPNs and other nursing support staff.
• Maintain accurate, organized patient records and prepare reports as required.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment in compliance with quality standards and infection control protocols.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
• Provide a customer service-oriented approach to patient and family interactions.
• Manage supplies and equipment efficiently to ensure availability for patient care.
• Remain calm and professional during crisis and emergent situations, delivering effective nursing care under pressure.
• Utilize electronic records management systems and computer skills for documentation and communication.

• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience.
• Unencumbered Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems and computer applications.

• Previous travel nursing experience of at least 1 year.

• Must maintain professionalism and composure in high-stress and emergent situations.
• Adherence to infection control and safety protocols is mandatory.
• Supervisory responsibilities over LPNs and support staff.
• Customer service orientation when interacting with patients and families.

• Shift hours: 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM.
• Work schedule includes every other weekend and holidays as required by unit needs.
