RN Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum

The Registered Nurse (LDRP - Nights) provides comprehensive nursing care and case management for a designated group of patients, implementing the Nursing Process with a focus on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive assessment. This role includes supervision and delegation of care to other nursing staff, documentation, patient teaching, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse functions with sound judgment and maintains professional standards in a fast-paced acute care environment. Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments and data collection focusing on physiological, psychosocial, and cognitive status.
• Implement nursing care plans according to established procedures, policies, and protocols.
• Identify patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education.
• Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records and/or paper charts per regulatory requirements.
• Delegate and supervise patient care activities and staff effectively.
• Function as a Charge Nurse when required, including assigning patients, coordinating admissions, discharges, transfers, and staffing coverage.
• Maintain professional development through continuing education and professional affiliations.
• Adhere to safety protocols including infection control, equipment handling, and emergency procedures.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, labor agreements, and professional standards.
• Interact courteously and efficiently with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.
• Perform physical tasks including lifting, moving patients, and operating medical equipment as needed.

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Washington State.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year RN experience preferred, especially in acute care or specialty nursing departments.
• Ability to perform nursing assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Critical thinking, decision-making, and crisis management skills.
• Physical ability to perform patient care duties including lifting and prolonged standing/walking.

• Experience as an acute care registered nurse.
• Advanced certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) within 6 months of hire.
• AAP NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification prior to the end of orientation and renewal every 2 years.
• Completion of STABLE course within 6 months of orientation (optional).
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification within 3 months of L&D training.
• RN-BC (Registered Nurse-Board Certified) in specialty preferred.

• Must demonstrate sensitivity and respect for patient rights and cultural diversity.
• May function as Charge Nurse requiring leadership and coordination skills.
• Ability to work in a high stress, fast-paced acute care environment including family birthing unit.
• Physical demands include frequent lifting, standing, walking, and ability to perform CPR.
• May cancel up to two shifts per month or six shifts within any 13-week assignment.

• Night shift position in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit.
• Shift lengths typically range from 8 to 12 hours.
• Scheduling may include rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities as needed.
