RN Neurology

The Level 2 Registered Nurse on the Neurology unit provides specialized nursing care to patients with neurological diseases such as stroke, epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Guillain Barre Syndrome. This role involves utilizing nursing and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team environment. The nurse will participate in the care of acute and complex patients, including those monitored with continuous video EEG technology in a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level 4 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients with neurological conditions including stroke, epilepsy, MS, and Guillain Barre Syndrome.
• Perform patient assessments, telemetry monitoring, and implement treatment plans.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including specialty epilepsy monitoring staff.
• Utilize continuous video EEG technology to assist in seizure evaluation and treatment.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and telemetry data.
• Respond to patient needs during assigned shifts including weekends, holidays, on-call, callback, and charge duties as required.
• Adhere to hospital policies and Joint Commission standards for neurological care.

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in New York State only.
• Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience.
• Telemetry experience is required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

• Experience working in a neurological or critical care setting.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records system.

• Work includes straight night shifts with weekend, holiday, on-call, callback, and charge responsibilities as needed.
• Shift rotation may include D/E/N inpatient shifts; candidate must be aware of rotating shift requirements.
• Ability to pass TB skin test and comply with hospital health requirements.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, acute care neurological environment.

• Straight night shifts with the possibility of working up to 48 hours per week billed at regular time.
• Scheduling includes weekends, holidays, and on-call or callback shifts based on unit needs.
• Shift assignments are rotational and may require flexibility to meet patient care demands.
