Orientation Leader

Eligibility Requirements Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Enrolled at least half‑time in a degree, diploma, or certificate‑seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre‑registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters. Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN). Remain in valid Visa status as applicable. A minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester. In compliance with Berklee’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (S.A.P.) criteria. In good disciplinary standing. Federal Work Study students may apply. Primary Duties Facilitate daily meetings with student cohorts during orientation week. Be available and give genuine assistance to incoming students beyond orientation week (e.g., sending check‑in emails, addressing questions or concerns). Provide guidance and support to first‑year students on personal and social matters within the scope of Campus Life training, referring them to appropriate academic or campus department services as needed. Foster a sense of inclusivity and encourage respectful attitudes and behaviors among the students in their groups. Have a working knowledge of Berklee’s facilities, services, and resources. Assist in the hosting and facilitation of programs and events sponsored by the Center for Campus Life. Other duties as assigned. Compensation All Orientation Leaders will be compensated for their work through a performance payment. This will take place in the form of two separate payments, one for training and one for orientation, each for $494.40. The total compensation for this role is $988.80, which aligns with the hourly rate of $16.48 per hour for two 30‑hour weeks. Information Session Requirement Applicants must attend a scheduled student leader information session to be considered. Information sessions are held periodically and are required before moving forward in the selection process. Time Commitment Summer training commitment: Student leaders may be asked to complete a small amount of paid training time over the summer, typically up to 3–5 hours. For students residing in the U.S.: training may include synchronous and asynchronous components. For students residing outside the U.S.: comparable paid training may be completed later. Fall training commitment: Student leaders will work two weeks between Friday, August 14, 2026 (tentative) for training through orientation concluding on Saturday, August 29, 2026. During training and orientation, student leaders will work approximately up to 30 hours each week and remain available for the entirety of this period.
