Job Description

This role supports multiple departments within a distribution center, including case pick, shipping, receiving, returns, loading, order processing, and replenishment. You operate material handling equipment, handle inventory documentation, and provide heavy industrial services such as manually receiving trailers and building pallets of large items. You work in a fast-paced warehouse environment that requires strong physical ability, attention to safety, and consistent, accurate execution of daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Work across multiple departments within the distribution center, including case pick, shipping, receiving, returns, loading, order processing, and replenishment.
• Operate material handling equipment to move inventory safely and efficiently within the facility, following all documentation and procedural requirements.
• Manually receive trailers at distribution center locations and provide heavy industrial services as needed.
• Use manual and/or electric pallet jacks to move, stage, and organize pallets and inventory.
• Build pallets of large items that require significant physical effort while maintaining safe lifting and stacking practices.
• Work on a rapid sorting line, accurately sorting and routing products to the correct locations.
• Handle inventory documentation accurately to support receiving, shipping, picking, and replenishment activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with company safety policies and housekeeping standards.
• Follow all safety guidelines when working around moving machinery, loud equipment, and other warehouse hazards.
• Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds repeatedly in a physical environment.
• Stand for extended periods, including periods exceeding 60 minutes, to complete daily tasks.
• Perform repetitive movements such as bending, squatting, and using 10-key or calculators as needed for inventory and documentation tasks.
• Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks, resolve issues, and ensure workflow efficiency.
• Assist in various areas of the warehouse as needed, demonstrating flexibility to support changing operational needs across different locations and shifts.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Experience operating material handling equipment (MHE) such as pallet jacks and related warehouse equipment.
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 60 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, including periods exceeding 60 minutes.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements, including bending, squatting, and frequent use of 10-key or calculators.
• Good reading skills to follow written instructions, labels, and documentation accurately.
• Good writing skills to complete forms, logs, and inventory documentation clearly and accurately.
• Good communication skills to work effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Comfort working in an environment with temperature variations, moving machinery, loud noise, and occasional fumes.
• Strong attention to safety and ability to follow established safety policies and procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
• Experience with warehouse operations such as receiving, shipping, picking, and replenishment.
• Experience with inventory handling and related documentation processes.
• Experience operating manual and electric pallet jacks.
• Comfort working in general warehouse environments that are not temperature controlled.
• Flexibility to work in different distribution center locations and on various shifts as needed.

Work Environment

This position is based in a general warehouse and distribution center environment, supporting multiple locations and shifts. The facility is not temperature controlled, so you should be comfortable working in varying temperature conditions throughout the year. You work around moving machinery, rapid sorting lines, and loud noise, with occasional exposure to fumes and other typical warehouse factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk if safety procedures are not followed. The role is highly physical, requiring frequent lifting of up to 60 pounds, extended periods of standing, and repetitive movements such as bending and squatting. You use material handling equipment, including manual and electric pallet jacks, and standard warehouse tools and systems to complete daily tasks while adhering to established safety and cleanliness standards.

This is a Contract position based out of Northlake, IL.

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $19.50/hr.
