Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a night shift contract requiring 2+ years of Neuro ICU or comprehensive stroke center experience and OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Fast-paced Neuro ICU in a comprehensive stroke center treating seizures, strokes, and other neurological diseases and disorders
• Also cares for overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical ICU and Heart and Vascular ICU
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Epic EMR required
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Traveler will be first to float at facility discretion, including to Main Campus (Dayton), South Campus (Centerville), and North Campus (Englewood)
• Floating assignments will be medically appropriate or supportive of the nursing care team on the unit floated to

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU and/or comprehensive stroke center experience in a large hospital required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills needed include IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills needed include ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
• Neurological skills needed include CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, post neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and managing continuous IV sedation required
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Candidates with past license disciplinary action will not be accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neurological ICU patients and overflow ICU patients from other units
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Candidates must be comfortable floating with no restrictions or special requests
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
• Previous PERM/PRN staff or prior agency candidates not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before applying as a traveler and require facility rehire approval
• Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, requested at time of initial submittal with no changes after an offer is made
• References are not required for consideration
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
