About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required License: Active state RN license or compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have 2 years of Neuro ICU experience and/or 2 years of comprehensive stroke center experience in a large hospital. Must have the ability to read and interpret strips. Description: Winter jobs available for a 13-week contract. Must be able to work a minimum of every other holiday. Experience in a fast-paced ICU treating neurological diseases and disorders, including seizures and strokes. Position involves treating overflow ICU patients from medical-surgical ICU and heart and vascular ICU. Must float to other units as needed based on census. Position may require floating to multiple campuses. Must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Management reserves the right to cancel shifts due to low census. Previous charge experience is preferred. Patient ratio experience is required. Charting system experience with required system is necessary. Skills include accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, and care of ventilated patients. Additional skills needed involve interpretation of arterial blood gases, management of dysrhythmias, and ventilator management. Unit cares for diverse patient age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Typical patient diagnoses include ischemic strokes, hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, and neuromuscular disorders. High acuity medical-surgical unit performing bedside procedures like EVD placement and central line placement. Specialized equipment utilized includes ICP monitoring and EVD use. Candidate must be comfortable with floating without restrictions or special requests. No references are required for this position. Candidates should have no past disciplinary action on their license.
