Regulatory Affairs Director

Surgery Partners seeks a Licensure & Healthcare Regulatory Director to lead enterprise-wide licensure and regulatory strategy across our national network of ambulatory surgery centers, surgical hospitals, and ancillary services. This role oversees facility licensure, registrations, surveys, and ongoing compliance with federal and state laws, including CMS and state agencies. The Director will advise executives and local leaders on regulatory risk, drive policy and process improvements, and lead responses to audits and investigations. Responsibilities Lead enterprise-wide licensure, accreditation, and healthcare regulatory strategy for Surgery Partners’ multi-site network Ensure compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations, including CMS, OIG, and state licensing boards Oversee licensing, registrations, and renewals for ambulatory surgery centers, surgical hospitals, and related entities Advise executives, legal, and operations leaders on regulatory risk, enforcement trends, and mitigation plans Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and governance related to licensure and regulatory matters Partner with physicians, clinical leaders, and local facility teams to embed compliant practices in daily operations Manage regulatory audits, surveys, investigations, and responses to government or accrediting bodies Monitor evolving healthcare laws and regulations and lead implementation of necessary changes Design and deliver regulatory training and education for legal, compliance, and operational stakeholders Collaborate cross-functionally to support growth initiatives, transactions, and new service lines from a regulatory perspective Healthcare regulatory compliance (federal and state) Licensure and facility certification management Knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation/Conditions for Coverage Regulatory risk assessment and mitigation Policy and procedure development for healthcare entities Regulatory audit, survey, and investigation management Healthcare law, fraud and abuse, and accreditation standards Cross-functional stakeholder management and executive advising Data analysis and reporting for compliance programs Training design and delivery on regulatory requirements Benefits Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Qualifications Active JD or advanced degree in health law, healthcare administration, or related field preferred Admission to at least one state bar (for JD candidates) strongly preferred Relevant compliance or healthcare regulatory certifications (e.g., CHC, CHC-F, CHPC) a plus Demonstrated expertise with CMS Conditions of Participation and Conditions for Coverage Proven experience leading licensure, accreditation, or regulatory programs across multiple facilities or states Strong knowledge of federal and state healthcare laws, including fraud and abuse, licensing, and certification requirements #J-18808-Ljbffr
