The salary for this position is $55,000-$60,000 per 10-month school year + $5,000 Sign on bonus. This is inclusive of additional compensation for days worked during our extended school year. Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred. Licensure: Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist Teaching License for Supervisory Intervention Specialist. Valid Non-Tax Teaching Certificate for Supervisory Teacher. Current appropriate Ohio Department of Education license for area of specialty. Skills/Competencies: Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes and abilities. Pass Safety Care Core Curriculum by passing the written exam, attending the full duration of training, participating and passing the required role plays, and demonstrating the full competencies up to and including the Two-Person Stability Hold required. Focus for Learning: The teacher makes use of high-quality student data as well as plans and implements lessons that intentionally make clear connections to prior and future learning. Knowledge of Students: The teacher’s instructional plan reflects the student’s developmental needs and abilities. These may include prior learning, strengths, individual talents, backgrounds, skills, language proficiency and interests. Lesson Delivery: The teacher effectively communicates with students, consistently monitors student understanding, and facilitates learning in a student-centered format by implementing instructional strategies, pacing and resources that are differentiated to make the lesson accessible for all students, while supporting the various learning needs of individual students. Classroom Environment: The teacher creates a positive climate of openness, respect and care. Further, the teacher anticipates and effectively addresses needs related to student’s sense of wellbeing. When appropriate, the teacher includes the greater interdisciplinary team and/or community resources to ensure student success. Assessment of Student Learning: The teacher intentionally and strategically selects, develops and uses multiple tools to measure targeted student learning objectives, anticipate learning obstacles, and modify instruction when necessary to meet individual student needs. The teacher shares evidence of student learning with colleagues, parents and students to collaboratively plan instruction to meet individual student needs. Professional Responsibilities: The teacher effectively uses multiple effective and appropriate communication and engagement with families and colleagues. The teacher follows Agency and School policies and procedures both in and outside of the assigned classroom. The Intervention Specialist will work within an interdisciplinary team that includes Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Behavior Specialists, Associate Teachers, Art Therapists, Music Therapist, Recreational Therapist, and Horticulture Therapist. The Monarch School offers small classroom sizes (approximately 5 to 8 students per classroom), a cohesive Academic Department (with 25 Intervention Specialists), and access to an abundant supply of technology, curriculum and assessments, provide an exceptional work environment. Classroom teams are intentionally small, so students can receive one-on-one and small group instruction, within the confines of Monarch’s visual language immersion teaching Model. The Model combines concept-driven language instruction with visual supports, technology and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). We offer a mentoring program for new Intervention Specialists along with guidance from supervisory support staff, as well as a competitive salary and excellent benefits.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Responsible for implementing appropriate educational plans for each student and class which they instruct including, but not limited to: Participate, develop and implement each individual student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). Develop lesson plans for small groups and/or individual instruction based on current diagnostic evaluations, keeping in mind the student’s strengths and weaknesses and using appropriate learning and teaching modalities in carrying out instructions. As case manager, organize and lead IEP meeting, which may include school district, parents and other invited agencies. Review and keep IEP and related data collection documentation up to date. In all instructional areas, supervise each student in an assigned class. Provide general supervision of all students and monitor students throughout day. Ensure congruence between the educational plans and accompanying interventions at Monarch School with the treatment goals and interventions established by the clinical team at Monarch Boarding Academy. Participate in leadership meetings and strategic planning for the Residential & Educational Autism Services Division. Help to foster mutual respect, comradery, and a sense of joint identity between educational staff and residential staff serving the same student boarders. Lead the Residential Education classroom/s through Extended School Year programming. Lead parent staffing meetings. Evaluate the performance of the Instructional Aides on the Intervention Specialist’s team, including issuing disciplinary action as appropriate. Complete the annual performance evaluations for the Instructional Aides. Participate and make recommendations in the hiring, disciplinary and discharge processes for the Instructional Aides on the team and participate in the adjustment of any grievance filed by associate teachers. Assign and responsibly direct associate teachers in the performance of their duties and responsibilities. Intervention Specialists must be alert to safety aspects in both the classroom and the school in general. Incidents must be reported to the Behavior Supervisor and incident reports must be completed by the end of the school day. As necessary, utilize Safety Care procedures, including at a minimum, make use of the necessary Two-Person Stability Hold. In conjunction with the Agency Facilities and/or Safety personnel, implement fire and safety measures. Teachers are responsible for providing instruction to students on fire and safety measures. Responsible for writing progress reports that summarize collected data and reflect IEP progress on goals and objectives. Quarterly progress reports will be completed during the school year. Responsible for overseeing lesson planning and guidance of Instructional Aides working with students on assigned case load. Lead team meetings that take place weekly on a regularly scheduled basis. Typically meetings focus on individual students, classroom curriculum, behavior management and team organization. Responsible for data collection for all assigned students as well as data input weekly.OTHER DUTIES:
Participate in professional growth activities including training sessions and workshops during the school year that are provided as part of the staff development program. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training. All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned by management.
