Role: Production Test Technician

Location: San Diego, CA (in-office)

Salary Range: $71,000 - $80,000 /yr + stock options, 401k matching, and other benefits

Role Overview:

We're looking for a hands-on Production Test Technician to help bring our autonomous vehicles to life by configuring, testing, and validating onboard computer and electronics assemblies. This role sits at the intersection of manufacturing, test, and engineering, and plays a key part in making sure our vehicle hardware is reliable, repeatable, and ready for real-world deployment.

You'll prepare vehicle CPU boxes and other electronics for the field by flashing images and firmware, loading configuration files, running functional and acceptance tests, and documenting what you find along the way. You'll work closely with engineers to track down issues, capture clear diagnostics, and continuously improve our production and test processes as we scale.

Role Details:

• Install and configure electronics assemblies for vehicle integration
• Identify, troubleshoot, and document software or hardware failures down to a component level
• Maintain and improve test setups, checklists, and production documentation
• Follow instructions to flash OS images, firmware, and configuration files onto single board computers, microcontrollers, and networking hardware
• Create and follow defined test procedures utilizing in-house manual and automated test equipment
• Support inventory tracking, labeling, and version tracking of hardware

As this role sits at the intersection of different teams, the ability to learn from different domains is essential. 

About You:

• At least 1 year of work experience in a test lab or manufacturing environment
• Electronics assembly and repair: soldering, crimping, multimeter proficiency, reading schematics OR Strength in IT: Linux command line, network troubleshooting, imaging and configuring computers
• Ability to independently follow technical setup instructions, including installing operating systems, flashing microcontrollers, and troubleshooting common setup issues
• Strong attention to process, with the ability to execute documented procedures and clearly record results, deviations, and failures
• Ability to clearly communicate with electrical engineers, software engineers, and assembly teams

In addition, it's nice (though not essential) if you have:

• Experience supporting fast-paced production for robotics, automotive, aerospace, or marine systems
• Experience working with Linux-based systems (basic command line usage)
• Basic understanding of networking, serial interfaces, or embedded systems
• Exposure to hardware bring-up and/or test automation
