Shift Details

Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Candidate Eligibility

• Permanent candidates from any facility outside of Swedish are eligible for a travel contract if they have been separated for at least 3 months.
• Active compact licenses are honored at all facilities.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a Surgical Cardiac Telemetry Unit.
• Telemetry experience is required; experience with open heart surgery, vascular (groin) and radial band management, IV skills, and NIH is also required.
• Optional: Experience in VAD and TAVR procedures.
• First-time travelers are not accepted.

Certifications Required

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Epic experience is a hard requirement.

Unit Overview

This unit specializes in the following patient diagnoses:

• Myocardial infarction
• Rule out MI
• Primary arrhythmias
• Pre/post open-heart surgery patients
• Vascular surgery patients
• Coronary artery disease
• Heart failure
• Pre/post cath lab procedures (with or without interventions)
• Stroke patients with cardiac involvement

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Breathing treatments and CPAP/BiPap management
• Chest tube setup and care
• Blood and blood products administration
• Cardioversion and defibrillation
• Epicardial pacer management
• Telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• LVAD and open-heart patient care (24-28 hours post-op)

Staffing and Scheduling

• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:4 during the day and 1:4-5 at midnight.
• Weekend shifts are required based on unit needs.
• Every other weekend availability needed.
• Floating to similar units is required; flexibility is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous charge experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience working in a community hospital or similar settings is preferred.
• Understanding and experience in managing cardiac and vascular conditions are essential.
