This position is a tax staff position at Markham, Mitchell & Stroud, PLLC in Goldsboro, NC.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting, and supporting the partners in carrying out the responsibilities of accounting, reviews, consulting and tax.
Role and Responsibilities:
o Provide timely, high-quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including preparation of reviewed and compiled financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables.
o Preparation of review engagements and the financial statements in addition to notes to financial statements.
o Prepare individual and business tax returns and assist partners with tax planning.
o Analyze client prepared data and make necessary adjustments required for tax reporting.
o Perform tax research and respond to correspondence from taxing agencies.
o Identify technical accounting matters early and assess impact on financial statements.
o Anticipate and address client concerns and communicate any issues to Partners as they arise.
o Identify and communicate accounting matters to Partners if warranted.
o Preparation of individual, partnership, corporate and non-profit tax returns.
o Preparation of quarterly payroll reports, W-2s and 1099s.
Qualification and education requirements:
o Undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting.
o Solid understanding of accounting and basic tax issues.
o Ability to utilize technology to enhance client services.
o Excellent written and oral communication skills.
o Attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
o Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and accounting and tax software. We use QuickBooks and Thomsen Reuters software for accounting and tax services.
o Applicant should demonstrate a willingness to learn new tax and accounting software and be willing to commit the time required to get a firm grasp on the intricacies of the software.
o Experience with financial statement preparation and tax preparation.
