About the Position

The shift operates from 7 PM to 7 AM. Weekdays and every other weekend availability are required. The unit consists of 8 intermediate care beds and 10 observation beds. The RN will care for a variety of medical patients. Common patient issues may include respiratory problems, DKA, and arrhythmias. Post-operative kidney transplant patients and interventional neurological patients will also be treated. The unit is capable of caring for telemetry patients with both medical and surgical needs. The staffing ratio is 3:1 for the Intermediate Care Unit and 4:1 for observation. First-time travelers are accepted for this position. The RN may be floated within their scope to meet facility needs as required. There are no on-call requirements. Preferred skills include arterial line management, care of ventilated patients, and central line care/management. Candidates must have experience in managing cardiac and vasoactive drips and interpreting dysrhythmias. Candidates should be comfortable managing patients on telemetry monitoring, whether on the unit or remotely. The unit also includes special procedures, such as chest tube placement and management of tracheostomies.
