Production Coordinator

Supervisor in Training – interim role supporting production activities across multiple departments (furnace, casting/refining, breaker, etc.). Responsible for completing Production Supervisor training and classroom training; may travel overnight. Rotate to assist all departments and supervisors with processes, operations, timekeeping, disciplinary processes, and related matters. Reports to Operations Manager, with direction from Plant Manager and Area Managers. Responsibilities Complete training focused on: Peer to Boss Transitioning, Emotional Intelligence, Element Policy & Procedure, Environmental Operations, Health & Safety Operations, Waste Water Treatment, Lead Production Operations, Lead Refining Operations, Slag Processing, Battery Break Operations, Landfill Operations, Baghouse Operations. Provide leadership in all departments and coverage on nights and weekends. Direct work for employees. Lead by example, enforcing all safety standards. Counsel and document training or corrective actions and violations of plant rules. Schedule and conduct toolbox meetings with hourly employees daily. Complete shift paperwork daily, including safety, quality, productivity, and work area logs. Ensure hourly employees follow standardized work and SOPs. Accountable for all department equipment, including mobile equipment. Ensure daily checks are completed and documented. Qualifications Required Current experience in manufacturing. Able to read, write, and speak English. Mathematical and analytical skills. Must work independently and as part of a team. Outstanding organization, administrative and time management skills. Ability to work on multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to apply concepts learned from training (classroom and on the job). Preferred High school diploma. Experience in a union manufacturing plant. Prior leadership experience. Six Sigma or Lean training/certification. Knowledge of problem‑solving and quality improvement methodologies. UKG or other timekeeping systems. Heavy equipment experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications. Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills. High energy, self‑motivation, and ability to succeed without direct supervision. Physical Demands Regular sitting, standing, walking, hand use, reaching, talking, hearing. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling. Lift up to 51–150 lbs. with equipment; 25–50 lbs. regularly. Regular use of safety glasses, steel‑toed shoes, respirator. Vision: close vision. Work Environment Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles. Occasional exposure to precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, electric shock risk.
