Job Summary : The Director oversees the day-to-day operations of Academic Services and supervises professional and student staff, including front desk personnel and tutors. The position is responsible for accessibility services, including the review of documentation and coordination of reasonable and testing accommodations in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. The Director also manages academic intervention efforts for students who are academically at risk or on academic probation and develops individualized success plans and strategies to support their continued enrollment and success.

The Director of Academic & Accessibility Services provides leadership and oversight for academic support, accessibility, and student success services designed to promote student achievement, retention, persistence, and graduation. The Director works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners to develop and implement programs and services that address academic needs, accessibility, and barriers to student success.

This position is funded by U.S. Department of Education Title III grant and is contingent on continued grant funding.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Academic Services:

• Oversee academic support, accessibility, and student success services.
• Develop, implement, and facilitate study skills, academic success strategies, and interventions for students individually and in group settings.
• Manage an academic caseload, including maintaining appropriate documentation, communicating with students, problem-solving, and making appropriate referrals.
• Provide direct intervention services and develop strategies for students who fall below good academic standing.
• Coordinate and participate in summer academic enrichment programs and other student-success initiatives.
• Consult and collaborate with faculty and staff to identify areas of academic concern and coordinate appropriate interventions and services.

Accessibility Services:

• Oversee accessibility services and the review of disability documentation to determine and provide reasonable accommodations that ensure equitable access to academic programs and services.
• Ensure accessibility practices comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA), and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Coordinate and prepare examination administration through the Testing Center while maintaining test security and academic integrity.
• Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to facilitate appropriate academic and testing accommodations.

Supervision & Administration

• Supervise Academic Services staff and student workers, including peer and professional tutors.
• Hire, train, develop, schedule, and evaluate student workers.
• Provide leadership for the daily operations of Academic Services.
• Compile data, generate statistics, prepare reports, and complete annual departmental reports.
• Maintain accurate student and departmental records and documentation.
• Develop collaborative relationships with faculty, Student Life, Admissions, and other campus departments to promote student success and retention initiatives.
• Actively participate in the Title III Steering Committee, Academic Standards Committee, and other college committees as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Education or a related field such as Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, Higher Education, or a related discipline.
• Three to five years of professional experience working in a higher education environment with increasing levels of responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience working with students from specialized or targeted populations.
• Two to three years direct experience providing accessibility/disability services in a higher education setting including reviewing ADA related documentation to determine appropriate college level accommodations.
• Experience managing an academic caseload, including documentation, student communication, problem-solving, and appropriate referrals.
• Demonstrated experience providing direct academic intervention services.
• Experience developing and implementing academic success strategies for students who are academically at risk, on probation, or below good academic standing.
• Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the ADA, ADAAA, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to accessibility and disability services in higher education.
• Experience supervising professional staff.
• Experience with learning management systems and higher education technology, such as Blackboard, Argos, and PowerCampus, preferred.
• Knowledge of assistive technologies, such as Read&Write, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, LiveScribe, and related accessibility tools, preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard computer applications. .

Compensation: $73,000.00
