The Department of Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center invites applications for an accomplished physician leader to serve as Clinical Chief of Thoracic Medical Oncology. This is a unique opportunity to lead and expand a nationally recognized thoracic oncology program within an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center at the forefront of translational research, immunotherapy, and multidisciplinary cancer care.

We are seeking a collaborative and visionary academic oncologist at the Associate Professor or Professor level who is passionate about advancing innovative clinical research, strengthening multidisciplinary partnerships, and shaping the future of thoracic oncology. The successful candidate will guide the clinical and scientific direction of the division while supporting faculty development, expanding clinical trial access, and advancing Roswell Park's national and international visibility in thoracic malignancies.

This role offers the opportunity to practice within a highly integrated academic environment alongside leaders in thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, pulmonology, pathology, immunology, and translational science all united by a shared mission to redefine what is possible in cancer care.

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic clinical and scientific leadership for the Thoracic Medical Oncology division
  • Oversee recruitment, mentorship, and supervision of thoracic oncology faculty and service attendings
  • Develop and implement innovative clinical pathways and multidisciplinary models of care across inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Collaborate closely with Thoracic Surgery and multidisciplinary oncology teams to deliver seamless, high-quality patient-centered care
  • Advance clinical and translational research initiatives with a strong emphasis on expanding accrual to thoracic oncology clinical trials
  • Foster productive collaboration between clinical and laboratory research programs within Roswell Park and external institutions
  • Contribute to the development of innovative treatment strategies and emerging therapeutic approaches, including immunotherapy
  • Participate actively in the education and mentorship of fellows, residents, advanced practice providers, and faculty
  • Serve on departmental and institutional committees supporting strategic, operational, and academic initiatives
  • Strengthen the national and international reputation of Roswell Park's thoracic oncology program through academic leadership, scholarship, and programmatic growth
  • Foster a culture grounded in innovation, accountability, collaboration, and excellence aligned with High Reliability Organization principles

The Thoracic Oncology Program at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is nationally recognized for its multidisciplinary and translational approach to lung and thoracic malignancies. Faculty collaborate across medical oncology, thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, pathology, pulmonology, immunology, and translational science to deliver cutting-edge therapies and expand access to innovative clinical trials.

What You'll Bring

MD or MD/PhD with academic accomplishments consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level

Significant clinical and academic experience in Thoracic Oncology

Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic medical center, cancer center, or multidisciplinary oncology environment

Expertise in developing and advancing clinical research initiatives, including investigator-initiated trials and translational oncology programs

The ability to foster meaningful collaboration between laboratory scientists, clinical investigators, and multidisciplinary oncology teams

A strong commitment to mentorship, faculty development, and academic education across fellows, residents, APPs, and junior faculty

Executive presence, strategic vision, and the ability to inspire confidence across institutional and multidisciplinary leadership settings

A track record of scholarly achievement, scientific curiosity, and commitment to advancing innovative cancer therapies
