JOB DESCRIPTION Livonia Public Schools is seeking a passionate and student-centered school social worker committed to building strong relationships and creating meaningful learning experiences within a supportive school community. The school social worker will work to help students address and resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustments to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered to them. The school social worker may have assigned responsibilities for evaluation, consultation, and other services to Livonia Public Schools students in pre-school through post-secondary levels.
DISTRICT OVERVIEW
Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving approximately 13,100 students pre-K - post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center and 1 vocational and transition center in the School District. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $180 million, with a state funding of $10,000 per pupil. BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH LIVONIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS:

- The district's contribution is the maximum allowed by Michigan law.
- Family coverage eligibility for employees working 30 hours or more per week.
- Single coverage eligibility for employees working 20 hours but less than 30 per week.
- Optional "cash in lieu" of medical insurance for those who qualify.
- Dental, vision, and life insurance:
- The district pays 100% of the premium for all employees.
- Long-term disability coverage:
- The district pays 100% of the premium for employees working 20 hours or more per week.
- Employee Assistance Program for employees and their eligible family members. This includes a completely confidential, short-term counseling service that utilizes a practical approach toward problem resolution and is available 7 days a week, with no cost to the employee.

- Minimum of a Master of Social Work
- Current approval as a School Social Worker
- Demonstrated commitment to high levels of learning for all students
- Ability to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to use student data to inform instruction, monitor progress and provide intervention

- Support a welcoming, inclusive, and positive school climate and culture
- Provide school social work services to students in order to identify and address social, emotional, behavioral, environmental, and systemic barriers to learning
- Provide crisis response and intervention, including support for students experiencing suicidal ideation, threatening behavior, trauma, grief, or other significant emotional or behavioral concerns
- Participate in district threat/risk assessment and safety assessment processes, consistent with district guidelines and protocols
- Collaborate with school teams to identify student, classroom, and school-wide needs and to develop appropriate intervention plans
- Contribute to multidisciplinary evaluations, including gathering relevant data, completing comprehensive social work assessments, and assisting teams in determining eligibility and student needs
- Support evaluation and planning related to Section 504 and special education, including areas such as Emotional Impairment, Other Health Impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other areas as appropriate
- Conduct and contribute to Functional Behavior Assessments and support the development, implementation, and monitoring of Positive Behavior Intervention Plans
- Provide IEP-directed school social work services, including specially designed instruction, individual or group counseling, consultation, and support in the areas of social-emotional learning, behavior, self-regulation, coping skills, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and access to the educational environment
- Collaborate with IEP teams to develop, implement, and monitor specially designed instruction and related services aligned to students' social, emotional, behavioral, and functional needs
- Use data to support progress monitoring and decision-making related to IEP goals, specially designed instruction, Behavior Intervention Plans, and other student support plans
- Provide consultation to staff regarding classroom-based strategies, behavior supports, social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, and evidence-based interventions
- Team with colleagues to support the implementation, monitoring, and adjustment of intervention plans designed to address student needs
- Assist parents and guardians when students are experiencing crisis or significant school-related concerns
- Connect students and families with community-based resources when needs extend beyond the school setting
- Communicate with families in a clear, collaborative, and supportive manner regarding student strengths, needs, interventions, and progress
- Facilitate and coordinate wraparound educational and mental health supports with community agencies and service providers
- Provide professional development and serve as a resource in areas such as abuse/neglect reporting, suicide prevention procedures, trauma-informed care, bullying prevention, positive behavior supports, and other relevant topics
- Follow all District guidelines, protocols, and procedures
- Execute other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by administration
