Direct Support Professional (Caregiver) - Evenings & Weekends

Job Description Direct Support Professional (Caregiver) at Firefly (Supportive Living & Employment Services) in Joplin, Missouri. Full Time (Evenings & Weekends). $20/hour plus $1/hour shift differential for evening and weekend hours worked. No experience necessary; we provide free training. Job Summary As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide support services and assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to improve their daily living and independence. You will help clients with personal care, household tasks, transportation, and community engagement, while documenting progress and communicating with families and staff. Responsibilities Help developmentally disabled clients in their homes and communities. Assist clients in accessing community resources and participating in social activities. Provide transportation to appointments, shopping, and other community outings. Teach clients independent life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and money management. Support clients with daily tasks, including personal care and hygiene. Write notes on client progress and achievements. Communicate client progress to families and staff. Understand and follow each client’s Individual Support Plan (ISP). Attend meetings and training sessions as required. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills. Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license (if applicable). Pass a background check. Work Environment Work primarily in clients’ homes and communities, with some travel. May require lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds. Work in various settings, including private homes, public spaces, and outdoors. Must be able to work varying shifts, including weekends.
