Project Engineer – Construction Job Description

Position Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the Project Manager and Superintendent with the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects. This role assists with document control, RFIs, submittals, scheduling, budgeting, and communication with subcontractors and clients to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with all phases of project administration and execution.
• Manage and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and consultants to ensure timely project delivery.
• Maintain project documentation, logs, and records.
• Review plans and specifications and identify discrepancies or potential issues.
• Assist with project scheduling and monitor progress against milestones.
• Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action items.
• Track material procurement and delivery schedules.
• Support cost control efforts, including budget tracking and invoice review.
• Ensure compliance with contract documents, company standards, and safety requirements.
• Assist with punch list completion and project closeout activities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and trade partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
• 1–4 years of construction experience, internship experience considered.
• Knowledge of commercial, multifamily, or mixed-use construction projects preferred.
• Understanding of construction documents, means and methods, and project management processes.
• Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
