Training and Technology Adoption Manager (hybrid)

Training & Technology Adoption Manager Merchant & Gould has been a leader in intellectual property law for more than 125 years, consistently ranked among the top firms for patents, copyright, and trademarks. The salary range for the position is $85,000–$135,000, based on experience and location. Summary of Position The Training & Technology Adoption Manager is responsible for managing all training aspects within the firm, including creating training material, executing trainings, evaluating the skills and needs of new and existing employees, and facilitating technology adoption. This role directly supports the firm’s technology skill‑development strategy, ensuring Merchant & Gould’s positioning on the cutting edge of innovation. The Manager will provide new‑hire onboarding systems training, periodic refresher trainings, tips and tricks to promote underutilized tools and features, and administer or support firm‑wide application roll‑outs. The position collaborates closely with IT, Human Resources, Practice Group Leaders, and other department managers. In order to perform the essential functions, a minimum of three days in the office is required. Essential Functions Manage and implement training initiatives related to workflow/process as well as computer programs, software and applications. Communicate and collaborate with firm leadership to ensure all strategic initiatives are supported from a training perspective, developing programs to promote skill development and improve productivity of the Firm’s employees. Deliver new‑hire orientation; oversee onboarding and other developmental training programs, including follow‑ups to quickly integrate new hires into the Firm. Proactively establish positive working relationships across the firm, partnering with department chairs. Support the COO in working with PGLs and IT to evaluate and recommend new software; schedule demos, include appropriate stakeholders, and gather feedback on potential new and/or upgraded products. Collaborate with administrative and attorney practice leaders to analyze training needs, support development and delivery of training, and document practice‑specific processes and procedures. Create documentation for all trainings and develop/manage a repository for training resources. Keep a record of training attendance to provide to HR during performance evaluations. Coordinate user adoption strategy and communication for the roll‑out of new software and processes to ensure initiatives are embraced at all levels of the Firm. Provide open “office hours” for one‑on‑one user support for specialized or demanding skillsets for all desktop applications. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Excellent computer skills; experience in a Microsoft Windows environment and with major Windows applications, preferably Word, the Office Suite, iManage, and traditional legal software (Table of Authorities, metadata cleaning, document comparison). Experience with emerging AI toolsets and platforms. Excellent presentation skills and extensive experience delivering training programs in a range of environments and formats, including virtual, video, hand‑outs, live, classroom‑style, and one‑on‑one. Ability to quickly learn new technology platforms and applications and translate to user‑friendly training. Ability to recognize learner styles and technical ability, adapting the training approach accordingly. Self‑directed with strong organizational and project‑management capabilities. Time‑management and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced work environment, with the capacity to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workflow. High emotional intelligence with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Thorough understanding of the industry language and the ability to communicate technical information to a variety of technical and non‑technical users. Strong ability to perceive and analyze problems, plan and develop alternatives, and implement solutions. Professionalism: ability to communicate with courtesy, a client‑service focus, and excellent judgment in all interpersonal interactions. Strong understanding of prompt‑engineering best practices, including context‑setting, iterative prompting, confidentiality considerations, and evaluating AI‑generated content for accuracy, quality, and compliance with firm standards. Requires periodic travel to Merchant & Gould’s offices. Tolerance of repetitive movements associated with heavy computer work (typing, keyboard functions, clicking a mouse). Lifting or moving files and objects up to 20 lbs, placing them on surfaces at various heights, or lifting from the floor or desk. Standing or sitting for long periods of time, such as during training or moving equipment. Working Conditions Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, or other environmental irritants.
