Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) position available in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized care to adult cardiology patients, including those with heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-procedure monitoring within a high-acuity cardiac/telemetry unit. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and expand expertise in advanced cardiac technologies.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Day shift only, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, beginning 08/31/2026
• Required Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license (AHA approved BLS & ACLS), minimum of 3 years of inpatient RN experience, 4 years of patient ratio experience, experience with charting systems (Epic required), and 0 years of minimum experience in the specialty.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Skills: Accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry monitoring, central line care, chest tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, arterial blood gas interpretation, managing cardiac drips, dysrhythmias management, isolation precautions, IV insulin protocols, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure, starting/maintaining IVs, wound care, wound vac unit, telemetry (including oncology telemetry), titration of insulin drips, tracheostomy care, rapid response/Code team use, and other invasive and non-invasive cardiac and respiratory procedures.
• Patient Population: Adults with diagnoses related to myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, post-cardiac procedures, and vascular access.
• Special Equipment: Telemetry monitoring, rapid response teams, advanced cardiac monitoring equipment.
• Additional Information: The position involves practice at a top-ranked cardiac hospital, working within a fast-paced 23-bed cardiac/telemetry unit, partnering with the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and expanding into advanced cardiac procedures and technologies. The unit emphasizes teamwork, quality improvement, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Float: Floating to other units as needed.
• Location: 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792. Parking permit required via UW Transportation; other transportation options available.
• Testing: Telemetry interpretation exam required with strict passing criteria; two attempts allowed.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care inpatient RN experience in the specialty area.
