This position involves providing specialized care on a Medical-Surgical Oncology unit in a hospital setting. The nurse will support patients requiring acute oncology care, chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and post-operative care for complex surgeries. Job Details Position Description: Medical-Surgical Oncology Unit, 4JPP a 44-bed adult medical-surgical oncology unit. Responsibilities include caring for medical patients needing acute oncology treatment such as chemotherapy, symptom relief, and complex care. Surgical patients post-laparoscopic and complex oncology surgeries including thyroidectomies, gastrectomies, adrenalectomies, spleen removals, liver resections, bowel surgeries, melanoma excisions, pancreaticoduodenectomies (Whipple procedure). The unit is part of a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated cancer center. Required Qualifications: BLS certification, Chemotherapy certification, active nursing license or equivalent, 1 year of experience as a Medical Surgical nurse, and ability to work nights. Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week. Additional Information: The unit emphasizes oncology care with specialized orientation, enrichment classes, and educational inservices.
