The organization specializes in grant funding identification and applications, turnkey energy project services, and power plant operations and maintenance. Its mission is to electrify Indian Country, offer affordable alternatives to large utilities, and advance the use of green technologies. Colusa Indian Energy provides expertise in micro-grid construction and operation, energy efficiency projects, renewable power, engineering, and cogeneration for casinos, cannabis operations, and other facilities.

Role Description The Marketing & Communication Manager is a full-time role. This position will lead the day-to-day execution of the company's marketing function. As a young and quickly growing company, marketing has played a critical role in establishing Colusa Indian Energy as a trusted leader in the energy development space, working with Tribes, private and public sector customers, and serving as a bridge between Indian Country and corporate America.

This role is accountable for maintaining and driving CIE's visibility and credibility in the market, and for the quality and consistency of everything CIE puts in front of customers, partners, and the public.

\n

Marketing strategy, target audiences, and the performance targets marketing is measured against are set by the Office of the Chief Operating Officer and Business Development. The Marketing & Communications Manager turns that direction into a coordinated plan and owns its execution, with authority to run day-to-day marketing and communications, manage schedules and approved vendors, and recommend events, channels, and content priorities.

The role builds the repeatable workflows the function runs on, and coordinates across departments and with Senior Leadership as part of the day-to-day. CIE's brand and messaging platform is currently being refreshed. This role will operationalize it across CIE's channels and materials as it is finalized. CIE's Marketing Coordinator supports this role on a dotted line.

Key responsibilities

\n

Marketing Agency and Vendor Management

\n

\n
• Serve as the primary point of contact and project manager for CIE's external marketing agencies. Determine what is produced in house versus assigned to a vendor.
\n
• Track retainer hours, scope, and deliverables, flag potential overruns, hold the agency to the agreed cadence and engagement targets, and manage photography, print, and signage vendors.
\n

Photo and Video Content

\n

• Project manage CIE's video program, including a brand video refresh, long-form pieces, project highlight videos, and social content, keeping production partners resourced and on schedule from brief through final delivery.
\n
• Coordinate the planning and capture of photography, drone, and video content for CIE projects, facilities, and events.
\n
• Obtain appropriate authorizations before featuring project content in external materials.
\n

Request Intake and Project Management

• Manage the marketing request intake process and track requests, deadlines, status, and deliverables from intake through completion, including oversight of the marketing inbox and its routing by the Marketing Coordinator.
\n
• Maintain organized marketing files, photo and video assets, templates, and brand assets, and communicate project status and timelines to internal stakeholders.
\n
• Report on marketing activity and results, including social and website performance, event outcomes, and agency deliverables, and use that reporting to recommend adjustments.
\n

Social Media and Website

• Supply the production agency with a steady flow of source material for social: project milestones, partnership news, company activities, employee announcements, and event news. Sourcing this from internal teams is a core, ongoing part of the role.
\n
• Review and approve agency-produced content before publication, and give direction so posts reflect CIE's brand, voice, and messaging. The agency manages the content calendar, posting, and comment monitoring.
\n
• Maintain CIE's website content, drafting and editing copy and coordinating updates with the production agency.
\n

\n

Collateral, Case Studies, and Proposal Support

\n

\n
• Develop and maintain marketing collateral, presentations, and sales enablement including capability statements, case studies, SOQs, key personnel sheets, one-pagers, tearsheets, and branded biographies.
\n
• Support proposals and qualifications packages on deadline with project descriptions, personnel material, graphics, and formatting.
\n
• Maintain CIE's brand standards and review externally facing materials that carry a CIE logo, including materials produced by other departments and by vendors.
\n

Events, Media, and Communications

\n

\n
• Provide oversight for the approvals and coordination of events, trade shows, and sponsorships.
\n
• Support executive speaking engagements with remarks, presentations, printed advertisements, event graphics, and photo and video capture.
\n
• Serve as the initial point of contact for inbound media inquiries and coordinate responses.
\n
• Coordinate the timing and distribution of press releases and other external communications.
\n
• Produce CIE's employee newsletter, all-staff meetings, and webinars.
\n

Qualifications

\n

\n
• A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
\n
• Five or more years of hands-on marketing experience, including experience owning marketing execution for an organization, company, or business unit.
\n
• Demonstrated experience managing external marketing agencies, creative vendors, or contractors, including scoping work and managing budgets, retainers, or project hours.
\n
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to independently develop social media content, case studies, website copy, and marketing collateral.
\n
• Experience managing social media (Meta, LinkedIn) and website content, and sourcing material from internal teams and subject matter experts to turn project and technical information into publishable content.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, maintain deadlines, and operate an organized request intake and project tracking process.
\n
• Sound judgment regarding public-facing communications and the ability to identify and escalate sensitive or high-visibility matters appropriately.

• Enrollment in a federally recognized tribe preferred

• Experience working with tribal governments, tribal enterprises, or Native American communities preferred
