Building Inspector II- Joshua Tree

The Job San Bernardino County's Land Use Services Department is seeking Building Inspectors II for the Joshua Tree location. The role involves enforcing building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, energy, and disabled access codes on residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects. The position requires travel throughout the assigned region and across the county as needed. The Joshua Tree location is approximately 80 miles from Downtown San Bernardino. Minimum Requirements Candidates must possess one of the following certification options and one of the following experience options. Certification Option 1: ICC certification (or equivalent) in the California Building Code with one of the following inspector certificates: Residential Building, Residential Plumbing, Residential Electrical, or Residential Mechanical. Certification Option 2: ICC certification (or equivalent) as a California Commercial Building Inspector. Experience Option 1: One year experience in a public Building and Safety agency as a residential or commercial inspector with authority to issue notices of correction and violation. Experience Option 2: Two years of experience working with public agencies on approved plans in a construction trade or closely related field. Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will have knowledge of California building codes, ordinances, and regulations. Physical demands include frequent climbing, kneeling, crawling, lifting items up to 25 pounds, working on uneven surfaces, and working at heights over ten feet.
