Embedded Software Developer (Drive Systems)

Are you looking to work for a company that provides an innovative work environment, and your voice is heard? We have a position for an Embedded Software Developer (Drive Systems) to work onsite with our client in the Novi/Northville MI area. This is a contract/resident engineering opportunity.

LER TechForce is an industry leader in Automotive manufacturing including aircraft, (HEV, EV and ICE) wheeled vehicles, autonomous systems, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), vehicle electrification, and next-generation control strategies, embedded controls, software, functional safety, and engineering talent. For over 20 years LER has been working with customers across North America to meet their engineering resource challenges.

The Embedded Software Developer (Drive Systems) Develops embedded software for drive systems and range extender functions, including control logic, diagnostics, and data processing pipelines. Supports full software lifecycle from design through validation.

What you'll need to be successful (must haves):

Develop control software (torque, regen, derates, REX functions)
Implement algorithms, state machines, and interfaces
Integrate with vehicle networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
Create unit, integration, and HIL test support
Build data pipelines and analytics for vehicle/test data
Maintain documentation, traceability, and CI/CD workflows
Support diagnostics and OBD functionality

Essentials:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred.
4–8+ years in embedded automotive software development
Strong C/C++ skills and real-time system experience
Experience with CAN, UDS diagnostics, and vehicle networking
Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink and CI/CD tools
Python/data analysis experience preferred
