Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse to join a dynamic 50-bed ED in Elmira, New York, for a 13-week travel assignment. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment, managing a patient load consistent with a 5:1 patient-to-nurse ratio.

You will play a critical role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This position requires a highly skilled and adaptable professional committed to delivering exceptional emergency care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation, for patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Manage a diverse patient caseload, prioritizing care based on acuity and maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of approximately 5:1.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions.
• Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment, ensuring readiness and proper function.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record.
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergent situations, including codes and traumas.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
• Ability to work in Elmira, New York.
