Job Summary: This full-time Medical Assistant position involves working varied shifts, including three 12-hour shifts from 8 AM to 8 PM during one week, and two 12-hour shifts plus two weekend shifts from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM the following week. The role supports healthcare delivery and patient management in a clinical setting, adapting daily duties to meet the evolving needs of the practice.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and delegated patient care, recognizing normal and abnormal clinical signs to identify at-risk patients. Deliver care aligned with established standards and guidelines, respond to telephone triage calls with appropriate guidance, and offer reassurance and education to patients.
- Ensure smooth healthcare service delivery throughout patient visits by preparing patients for examinations, obtaining vital signs and medical histories, and accurately documenting findings and physician instructions in electronic medical records.
- Assist physicians with testing, treatments, minor surgeries, and physical exams, including applying splints and dressings, managing medication samples and logs, arranging referrals and testing, and ensuring proper consents are obtained before invasive procedures or immunizations.
- Maintain clinical areas by stocking supplies, organizing patient education materials, ensuring cleanliness and sterility of instruments, and verifying equipment functionality.
- Perform laboratory tests and maintain lab logs as prescribed, and assist with patient education to ensure understanding of treatments and medication usage.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned, adapting to changing responsibilities as needed.
Education and Experience Required: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant or Nursing program is required.
Work shifts are varied and located within a regional healthcare setting in the Midwest United States.
