ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care to critically ill patients, demonstrating strong clinical skills and effective communication within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate and comprehensive nursing care in a Level 1 Trauma setting.
• Monitor patient conditions, including vital signs and hemodynamic stability.
• Administer medications and titrate intravenous (IV) drips, such as vasopressin and epinephrine.
• Manage various medical devices, including ventilators and chest tubes.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions promptly.
• Coordinate with attending physicians, intensivists, and allied health professionals.
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health record systems.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and nursing aides.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an ICU setting, particularly within busy hospitals.
• Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
• Experience with patient care technology and equipment.
• Ability to float to other ICU areas as needed based on staffing and patient needs.

Work Environment

• Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1:2 or 1:3, depending on patient acuity.
• Availability of a hospitalist and intensivist on-site 24/7.
• Scheduled shifts are based on unit needs, with weekend rotation required.
• Intermittent support from nurse aides or patient care technicians may be available.

Dress Code

• Teal scrub bottoms paired with a black or printed coordinating scrub top.
• No fleece jackets; nails must be professional, with regular polish allowed (no shellac or acrylics).

Position located in a busy urban healthcare environment, providing care to a diverse patient population.
