Undergraduate Admissions Counselor

The Undergraduate Admissions Counseloridentifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled undergraduate students (freshmenand transfer) andis responsible forprogram development and implementation.The Counselor must be familiar with successful recruitment practices and must have a naturally enthusiastic and persuasive manner to recruit and convert undergraduate students to enroll at Webster University.Additionalresponsibility for this position will include admissions-related file processing and supporting the admissions operations to increase undergraduate students at Webster USA campuses.This position reports to the AssociateDirector,Admissions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities* Recruitment/Territory Management – 35% Recruitsnewfreshmenand/or transfer students to Webster University andassistswith recruiting plans and events both on and off campus. Manages an assigned geographic territory and travels to high schools, community colleges, community-based organizations; attend college fairs and conduct special programs across the country. Plan all aspects of travel, manage receipts, and prepare travel reports to meet policies and deadlines. Representsundergraduate admissions in a public-speaking capacity both on and off campus andmaintainsrecords of these activities in SLATE. Admissions/Advising – 50% Responsible for counseling and outreach to students and parents on the admissions requirements and procedures, and works directly with them to resolve extenuating circumstances,complaintsand appeals Manages data, prospects, applicants, and recruitment territories through the SLATE (CRM) system to enhance student relationships, communication timelines and to connect students with other areas of the university. Cultivate student applicant pool andassistwith the transition to campus for incoming students In accordance withuniversity guidelines and enrollmentobjectives,determineseligibility of applicants for admissions based on analysis of the admission application, transcripts, standardized tests, and supplemental documentation. Utilizes professional judgement to analyze the complete student file todeterminefull admission, admission by exception, denial or to send theapplication onfor further review. Responds, within established time benchmarks and service delivery protocols, to inquiriesregardingadmissionsstatus from prospective students. Provides assistance toprospective studentsregardingadmissionsrequirements and process. Updates information in SLATE and other university systems. Maintainsa high levelof working knowledge of university information, organization, opportunities, and policies Responsible for advising and counseling special populations that may include but are not limited to athletes, rural students, urban students, conservatory, honors, competitive scholars, etc. Programming – 10% Assistsandparticipatesin a variety of on-campus and off-campus recruitment and yield programs, virtually and in person Implements recruitment activities such as application workshops, information sessions, financial aid informationsessionsand outreach presentations. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities* Other duties and Assignments – 5% Cultivates working relationships with university schools and colleges, departments,counselorsand advisors to enhance student service and satisfaction as well asestablishcommunity contacts Reports statistical data on programs, projects, SLATEcasesand travel activities Serves on internal committees and task forces andparticipatesin work groups to support the mission of Enrollment Management and Webster University QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT Functional/Technical Skills* Skill inoperatinga computer and supporting software Knowledgeof immigration rules and regulations. Knowledge of collegeadmissionspolicies and procedures. Skill in reviewing/evaluating transcripts. Strong interpersonalcommunication skills. Ability todemonstratecultural sensitivity and diplomacy. Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form. Ability to learn and apply applicable federal regulations. Ability to work independently without direct supervision. A working knowledge of higher education within the United States. Requisite Experience* One year of experience in recruitment, admissions, advising, or related enrollment and/or student service experience. Preferred Experience in higher education This position is eligible to advance to Sr. Undergraduate Admissions Counselor position after 2 years at counselor level and based on meeting performance expectations.
