Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

As a contract special education paraprofessional near San Mateo, you'll work hand-in-hand with dedicated educators to provide a safe, inclusive, and nurturing atmosphere for diverse learners.
You will have the opportunity to make a profound impact on students' daily lives, helping them reach their fullest potential. Roles may include assisting with personal care (including toileting, feeding, and routine health procedures), implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and supporting classroom instruction throughout the campus. Flexibility is essential, as paraprofessionals are placed according to where the need is greatest.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- S10, S10A, S10Q, S10W, S10E, S10F, S20D, S20V, or S22 qualification (please specify your type and supporting credentials)
- Associate’s Degree or higher, OR 48 college units and a high school diploma, OR high school diploma plus CBEST or Instructional Aide Exam
- Recent (within 2 years) paraprofessional experience in a school setting (6+ months preferred)
- Willingness to undertake any assignment on campus—teamwork is essential
- Special skills such as sign language, Braille knowledge, or experience with behavioral needs are a plus
- CPR/First Aid or willingness to complete district-provided training modules as needed
- References ready and manager’s reference requested
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide academic, social, and physical support to students with diverse needs
- Assist with all aspects of care and instruction, from classroom support to routine medical procedures (training provided as needed)
- Build positive rapport with students and staff, ensuring a collaborative and respectful environment
