HVAC Pipefitter / WelderReports to: Production ManagerFLSA Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)We are 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). ESOP employees tend to have 2.2 times as much in retirement savings as employees in traditional companies.Position Purpose: The primary responsibility of the Pipe Welder is to design, cut, and permanently join metal parts together through the application of appropriate welding techniques. Duties of the Pipe Welder include reviewing blueprints, cutting metal into the appropriate shape and smoothing molten metal to remove creases.Employment at Will: Nothing herein is intended to create a contract of employment or to guarantee employment for a definite duration.Pipe Welder Duties and Responsibilities:Uphold and Adhere to Core ValuesProduce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standardsComplete every stage of building pump packages, to include: Layout, cutting, and welding of steel frameLayout, cutting, and welding of steel pipingLayout, cutting, and threading of steel pipeLayout, cutting, and soldering copper pipingRead and interpret drawingsInstallation of equipment on steel framePainting of packagePressure test of pipe and repair as neededIdentify and use various types of welding tools, wire, and machinesFollow established safety guidelines and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environmentPerform QA/QC checks on finished work to ensure conformance with specificationsOther duties as assignedPipe Welder Education/Experience:Successful completion of trade/vocational school and minimum of 3 years pipefitting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience and familiarity of our products and line of business a plusMust be able to obtain a Welding certificationMIG/TIG/Arc welding experience preferredSkills and Qualifications/Abilities:Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track recordAbility to prioritize and work effectively on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentAbility to use and maintain a variety of hand tools, wiring diagrams piping schemes, engineering specifications and other equipmentGood analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blue prints, plans and manualsAbility to prioritize and meet deadlinesComfortable with working in all types of conditionsKnowledge of basic electricity and electrical control systems and general knowledge of mechanical systems is a PlusFlexibility to work overtime and/or weekends as requiredWillingness to travel out of town to projects with overnight staysWorking Conditions and Physical Requirements:Standing: FrequentlyWalking: FrequentlySitting: OccasionallyStooping: FrequentlyHandling/Fingering: FrequentlyClimbing: FrequentlyBending: FrequentlyPushing/Pulling 12 lbs. or less: FrequentlyLifting/Carrying 10 lbs. or less: FrequentlyLifting/Carrying 11-50 lbs.: FrequentlyLifting/Carrying 51-75lbs: OccasionallyLifting/Carrying 76 - 115 lbs.: OccasionallyReaching Outward: FrequentlyReaching Above Shoulder: FrequentlySquatting/Kneeling: FrequentlyThis job description is intended to provide information regarding the essential functions and basic duties of this position.
