Experiential Build-Out Lead – Trade Show & Custom Millwork

Full-Time | Mooresville, NC | Travel Required

If yes, you’ll feel at home at Breakthrough Productions. This is not a traditional production-line role; it’s a hands-on, last-mile build and install position where your judgment and craftsmanship shine.

What you’ll tackleOnsite leadership & installation

• Travel to trade shows, events, activations, and client facilities nationwide for installs and dismantles.
• Assemble custom displays, cabinetry, millwork, scenic elements, fixtures, and immersive spaces.
• Lead or partner with installation crews and onsite labor to keep work flowing safely and on time.
• Install graphics, lighting, TVs, electronics, shelving, and specialty hardware.
• Read and interpret drawings to confirm assembly intent and sequencing.
• Troubleshoot field issues and adapt when reality doesn’t match the plan.
• Deliver clean, accurate, client-ready finishes while representing Breakthrough professionally.

In-shop final assembly & mock-ups

• Build partial or full mock-ups from completed components.
• Verify fit and function across all interfaces and connection points.
• Test doors, drawers, hinges, locks, panels, shelves, lighting, electronics, and hardware.
• Confirm assemblies are efficient to build, break down, and reassemble.
• Compare outcomes to drawings and approved renderings and flag discrepancies.
• Find and fix issues in our shop—not at the client’s event.

Pre-flight project prep

Work with Production, Procurement, Project Management, and Shipping to make sure everything ships ready for install, including:

• Installation hardware
• Graphics and vinyl
• TVs and electronics
• Lighting
• Greenery
• Furniture
• Client-supplied products
• Purchased components
• Specialty tools
• Replacement parts
• Assembly instructions

Organize and label components so anyone can follow the plan—even if they didn’t build it.

Backgrounds that translate

Haven’t worked trade shows? If you’ve installed custom-built products in the field, your experience likely fits.

• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving
• Proficiency with hand and power tools
• Ability to read shop/assembly drawings
• Cabinet or millwork install experience (big plus)
• Accurate assembly of custom components
• Understanding of fasteners, hinges, and connection/installation methods
• Field troubleshooting and adjustments

• Independent work style with minimal oversight
• Clear communication with PMs, clients, vendors, and trades
• Speed and organization under tight install windows
• Willing and able to travel

Travel rhythm & hours

Expect national travel and non-9–5 schedules during install windows, including:

• Early mornings
• Late nights
• Weekends
• Overnights
• Multi-day trips

When not traveling, you’ll work from our fabrication facility in Mooresville, NC .

• Issues are anticipated and addressed before shipment whenever possible.
• Installs are safe, on schedule, and on spec.
