Senior Tax Accountant

Established and growing CPA firm headquartered in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Tax Accountant to join our team immediately. The ideal candidate will be a CPA (active or inactive) and thrive in a highly autonomous environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to self-review work for accuracy, and a collaborative, "all-hands-on-deck" mindset. Key Responsibilities & Qualifications Strong tax research skills and the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and correct issues within tax returns. Solid understanding of basis calculations and related issues for partnerships and S corporations. Experience communicating with or responding to the IRS is highly preferred. Tax preparation software: Prosystem FX Tax Time management software: CCH Practice Management (preferred). Hybrid or fully onsite. Manage tax returns and financial statements. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts for new stores Work with entities to receive and post all monthly general ledger downloads Analyze reconciliations and provide recommendations for correction and improvement Perform research and respond to clients. Have an intermediate understanding of accounting fundamentals (e.g. Deferred Revenue, AR Allowance methods, FX conversions, etc.) Prepare, and review, journal entries Reconcile, and review, bank accounts and all other general ledger accounts Assist with audit inquiries as needed Prepare quarterly board pages as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and minimum 5+ years of related experience (Public Accounting or Upper-Level Accountant in private industry) CPA preferred Tax preparation software: Prosystem FX Tax(strongly preferred) Time management software: CCH Practice Management (not required).
