  • You genuinely like people
  • You are excited about the opportunity to work closely with a group of dedicated professionals

We strive to be the very best in a profession that demands more and more of its members. If that sounds like you, we want you.

The Corinth Police Department offers a lot to its sworn members. First, we work in a community that is extremely supportive of its men and women in blue. The local crime rate is low, which permits our peacekeepers time to engage in true, face-to-face community policing. We furnish each of our officers with approximately $10,000 worth of personal equipment, ranging from firearms to boots. Our Patrol fleet is second to none in Texas for being well-equipped, maintained, and "tricked out" for maximum officer safety. We offer a take-home car program (with restrictions). Benefits, including longevity pay, are generous. Specialized assignments include school resource officer, K-9 handler, motorcycle officer and investigator. Officers may also choose bicycle patrol as a collateral assignment.
We urge you to read on and check us out in detail. If what you've read sounds like a personal invitation to you, please get in touch right away. The potential of a life-changing career is not far away!

Police Hiring Disqualifiers
Following is a listing of factors that may disqualify a potential applicant from being hired as a Corinth police officer permanently or for a specified period of time. These causes for disqualification are in accordance with provisions of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement peace officer standards and pertinent state statutes. The causes include but are not limited to the below:

1. Applicant is not a citizen of the United States. The Applicant will be considered ineligible until citizenship is lawfully obtained.

2. Applicant has been convicted of or admitted to conduct that constitutes a class A or class B misdemeanor under the state penal code or the equivalent under federal law, to include violations of the uniform code of military justice, within the past ten years. This will result in a temporary rejection until that time period has passed. Crimes involving moral turpitude may result in permanent disqualification and will be considered on a case by case basis with consideration of circumstances and time elapsed since the crime occurred. Crimes of moral turpitude are often defined as "conduct contrary to community standards of justice, honesty, and good morals."

3. Applicant has been convicted or admitted to conduct which constitutes a felony under state or federal law, including the uniform code of military justice. This will result in a permanent disqualification.

Note: A person is considered convicted of a felony or misdemeanor crime involving moral turpitude if a court enters a guilty adjudication against the person or the plea of guilty is entered by the person under the laws of this state or another state or the United States, regardless of whether:
  • The sentence is subsequently probated and the person is discharged from probation or community supervision;
  • Deferred adjudication is granted;
  • The accusation, complaint, information, or indictment against the person is dismissed;
  • The person is released from all penalties and disabilities resulting from the offense;
  • The person is pardoned for the offense, unless the pardon is granted expressly for subsequent proof of innocence. ?
4. Applicant will be considered ineligible for employment while charges are pending for any criminal offense.

5. Applicant has a conviction for driving under the influence (DWI or DUI) at any time within the past 10 years. This will result in a temporary disqualification until the ten-year time period has passed.

6. Applicant has failed to demonstrate the ability to write, read, and fluently speak the English language. The applicant will be ineligible until the deficiency is corrected.

7. Applicant is unable to perform the essential functions of the position sought, with or without reasonable accommodation. The applicant will be ineligible until he/she demonstrates the ability to perform the essential job functions.

8. The applicant is unable to obtain a valid vehicle operator's license as mandated by state law. The applicant will be considered ineligible until he/she obtains a valid Texas driver's license.

9. The applicant has used illegal substances as indicated in the following guidelines:
  • Marijuana use will be evaluated on a case to case basis.
  • Applicants found to have engaged in conduct which constitutes abuse of legally obtained medication or illegal use of the prescription medication of another person may be temporarily or permanently disqualified, depending upon the circumstances of the abuse.
  • Applicants will be disqualified when it is determined that they have engaged in conduct which constitutes felony-level use of illicit substances as defined in Texas statutes. Such instances will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
10. Applicants will be temporarily disqualified if they have more than three traffic events (moving violation tickets or at-fault accidents) in the preceding two years or a reckless driving conviction in the preceding five years. Applicants whose driving behavior indicates incompatibility with the operation of emergency vehicles and presents potential liability to the City will be temporarily disqualified.
