Purchaser

The Purchaser is responsible for creating order listings, ordering, and maintaining appropriate inventory levels of food, beverages, ingredients, supplies, and paper goods for the various kitchens. The Purchaser works collaboratively with culinary and operations teams to ensure all kitchens and service areas are properly stocked, organized, and prepared for daily services. Team members are:

Compensation

• $32 - $35 / hr

Summary of Responsibilities

• Oversees receiving functions, providing receiver and colleagues with a list of items that have been ordered and are expected to be receives
• Maintains inventory by preparing an inventory sheet based on ordered items, price of items, and quantities to accurately account for value of inventory
• Manages vendor relationships by building excellent, collaborative relationships with vendors and communicating company’s product guidelines for quality, and best product for best price
• Oversee product quality and food safety standards, teaching colleagues to communicate when a product is received that does not meet product quality standards
• Place orders based on product needs and communications with colleagues in culinary and service departments
• Review how items are used to make sure product is used efficiently and teams work collaboratively to reduce waste including making sure items are correctly labeled, rotated, and first in first out procedures are followed
• Work with receiving and colleagues across culinary and service to make sure items are properly stored in storage areas, according to food safety rules
• Keep detailed pricing sheets and order lists to detail purchasing by location
• Review menus with culinary and service teams to understand to what ingredients are needed, and communicate product availability with colleagues
• Fill in as a kitchen manager from time to time as needed to cover time off
• Other responsibilities as needed to deliver a successful service

Qualifications

• Good judgement, the ability to make independent decisions without constant direction from others, and to solve problems as they arise within the workplace.
• Excellent guest service skills.
• Atleast 5 years of culinary experience
• Strong communication skills and hospitality skills
• Able to grasp and reach overhead
• Must be able to lift, move, and carry 50+lbs
• Must be able to work 8+ hours a day on feet
• Servsafe allergen certified and Servsafe manager (or willing to be certified prior to start date, company pays classes)
