Head Chef — Blackstones Steakhouse Stamford, CT
Blackstones Steakhouse in downtown Stamford is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen and help shape an exciting new chapter for the restaurant.
We're an established steakhouse preparing for a major transformation: later this year we'll be renovating and rebranding into a more sophisticated, upscale steakhouse concept. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a kitchen and elevate it, building the menu and culinary standards that will define the new Blackstones.
We're looking for a hands-on leader who runs a tight, clean, high-performing kitchen and is excited to grow with us as we raise the bar.
What you'll do
- Lead all kitchen operations, including line management, prep, and service execution
- Develop and refine menus for the upscale rebrand, with a focus on premium steaks, seafood, and seasonal offerings
- Own food and labor costs, including ordering, inventory, portion control, and waste management
- Build and execute event menus in coordination with our events team
- Hire, train, and develop kitchen staff to consistent, high standards
- Maintain rigorous health, safety, and sanitation compliance
- Manage vendor and purveyor relationships to secure quality product at the right price
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of progressive kitchen experience, with at least 2 in a head chef, executive sous, or chef de cuisine role
- Strong background in steakhouse, chophouse, or upscale American cuisine (steakhouse experience strongly preferred)
- Proven command of food and labor cost management and kitchen P&L
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Calm, organized, and decisive under high-volume pressure
- Solid understanding of CT health and safety regulations
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays

- Classical French technique and training
- Koji experience
- Pastry and dessert experience
Compensation Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus a performance-based bonus structure tied to hitting food cost and kitchen labor targets.
