Position Overview The Electrical Project Inspector will provide quality control and inspection expertise on Port of Portland projects, ensuring that materials and equipment in any phase—manufacture, shop or field fabrication, delivery or installation—comply with contract documents. Experience in public construction is a must. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Inspect materials, installation, and layout of work on the project site and evaluate its acceptability. Determine and notify contractor of unacceptable material or work with the Construction Contracts Manager’s (CCM) approval. Serve as liaison between CCM, operations, Owner, and contractor during construction. Perform or supervise quality control testing. Maintain thorough and accurate records documenting the entire process of the project, which includes daily logs for each job, updates from weekly progress meetings, updates from progress meetings with contractors, and all findings during quality control or inspection of the material, work, and job site. Verify quantities for contractors monthly pay estimate. Other duties as assigned. Attend work during normal business hours. Preferred Education and Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, electrical engineering, architecture, surveying, or related field preferred. Experience: 5 years in electrical engineering, 2+ years with all ICC codes (specifically electrical), 2+ years with all state‑specific ICC codes in the public construction industry. Preferred Certification Certified Electrical Inspector Certification (CEI), appropriate state‑issued Electrical Inspector’s Certification, or equivalent license. Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this full‑time role is $63,400.00–$118,533.36 per year, based on position, geography, client, and industry experience. Base salary only; total compensation package may vary.
