Clerical Support Specialist Intern - Part Time

Eye Health Vision Centers have been proudly providing the Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Fall River, Taunton MA and Middletown RI communities with advanced technology and eye care services for over four decades.

Position Summary: The Clerical Support Specialist Intern provides essential administrative support to our team. This role is responsible for various clerical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our healthcare facility. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, possess basic computer skills, and are committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Electronic Health Record Management:
  • Upload outside records into the electronic health record system.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Scheduling Support:
  • Assist with rescheduling patients due to provider schedule changes.
  • Contact patients due for recall appointments to ensure timely follow-up care.
• Document Retention:
  • Review paper charts and documents and assess retention dates as required by law. Scan documents and arrange for shredding as legally appropriate.
• Compliance and Confidentiality:
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including patient confidentiality.
• Training and Development:
  • Participate in offered education and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Miscellaneous:
  • Follow the policies and procedures of Century Vision Global and Claris Vision
  • May be asked to assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Skills:
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional healthcare setting. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Must possess the physical, mental, and cognitive skills needed to complete essential tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for comprehension, problem-solving, and timely decision-making.
