Position Information Title: Accountant Banner Position Number: 000958 Department: Bursar's Office (MU4200) Location: Marshall University – MU Employment Type: Full-Time Salary Range: $44,918 – $58,939 (commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity) Key Responsibilities Record, review, and maintain financial transactions using Banner ERP, SIS, and Microsoft Office. Prepare and reconcile journal vouchers for multiple bank accounts and internal funds, promptly resolving discrepancies. Maintain accurate and organized financial records and supporting documentation. Process electronic and paper returned checks and disputed card transactions. Assist with student refund processing and transaction verification. Prepare documentation, schedules, and materials for internal and external audits. Generate financial reports and assist with data analysis as needed. Support posting of cash received, disbursements, and fund reconciliation. Assist with month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing processes. Perform general administrative duties such as data entry, filing, and document organization. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. Working knowledge of debits, credits, and fund accounting principles. Minimum 1 year of related accounting work or internship experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications. Meticulous, thorough, conscientious, and analytical. Ability to analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong integrity and confidentiality handling. Willingness to learn and grow professionally. Initiative to support team success during peak times and vacancies. Preferred Qualifications Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (formulas, reporting, data analysis). Experience with accounting or student information systems, particularly Banner. 2+ years of experience reconciling bank accounts or internal funds, including preparing journal vouchers.
