ICAN’s holistic out-of-school time program model ensures that youth thrive academically, socially, and creatively through four key interconnected pillars: Academic Support, Positive Youth Development, Enrichment and Future Exploration & Community and Family Support. You will work directly with teens while managing schedules, activities, logistics, transportation, materials, and other operational needs that ensure a consistent and engaging teen program experience.The Director of Programs provides overall teen program strategy, curriculum direction, and quality standards. Reporting to the Director of Programs, you will do this by but not limited to: Teen Program Operations & Coordination (40%). Coordinate the day-to-day operations and implementation of ICAN’s teen program across participating locations. Coordinate program schedules, activities, transportation, field trips, special events, supplies, food program needs, and other logistics necessary for effective program delivery. Maintain an organized teen program calendar and communicate schedules, activities, changes, and program needs to Site Supervisors and other appropriate team members. Work in close partnership with Site Supervisors to coordinate teen programming within each location while recognizing Site Supervisors’ responsibility for overall site operations, staffing, and employee supervision. Proactively communicate and problem-solve when teen program activities or needs impact site schedules, staffing, space, or other site operations, escalating unresolved operational conflicts to the Director of Programs as appropriate. Support consistent implementation of the teen program across locations in alignment with the program direction, curriculum, and quality standards established by the Director of Programs. Identify operational needs, barriers, and opportunities for improvement and communicate them to the Director of Programs. Maintain required program records and documentation; complete incident reports and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner; and utilize planning time effectively to prepare for quality program delivery and upcoming teen activities. Teen Program Facilitation & Youth Engagement (45%). Prepare for and facilitate assigned research-based curriculum, structured activities, life-skills programming, and other teen program experiences in alignment with the curriculum direction and quality standards established by the Director of Programs. Deliver engaging, culturally responsive, and age-appropriate programming that promotes positive choices, healthy habits, confidence, character, connection, competence, and contribution. Support ICAN’s Homework Help and future-readiness programming by assisting teen members with homework, educational activities, college and career exploration, college applications, resume building, and other activities that prepare teens for future opportunities. Build positive, supportive relationships with teen members and create an environment where teens feel safe, connected, valued, and engaged. Provide guidance, encouragement, and mentorship that supports positive self-worth, self-efficacy, leadership, and healthy decision-making. Promote teen engagement and retention through positive, professional relationships with youth and families. Engage, support, and acknowledge volunteers participating in teen programming and serve as a positive ambassador for ICAN when interacting with teens, families, volunteers, partners, and the community. Provide teen transportation as scheduled and/or requested and chaperone field trips, events, and other teen program activities. Youth Guidance & Behavior Support (15%). Support a safe, respectful, and engaging program environment by consistently implementing ICAN’s behavior management philosophy, expectations, and established behavior support practices. Provide appropriate guidance, redirection, and consequences in accordance with ICAN guidelines while maintaining positive and developmentally appropriate relationships with teen members. Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral concerns, conflicts, and other situations affecting the safety or well-being of teen members. Document behavioral incidents accurately and in a timely manner and communicate concerns to Site Supervisors and the Director of Programs as appropriate. Partner with Site Supervisors and the Director of Programs when behavioral concerns require additional intervention, family communication, or support, and contribute to consistent approaches to youth behavior across teen programming. Starting pay is based on experience, skills, operational knowledge, and alignment with ICAN’s nonprofit compensation philosophy and organizational needs. Requirements Experience/Skills We care more about who you are than what you’ve done. That said, here are some highlights of the type of person and background we believe would thrive: Minimum of 2 years experience in working with teens in youth development, out-of-school time programming, education, recreation, or a related setting Minimum of 2 years experience coordinating programs, activities, schedules, events, or other program logistics Minimum of 2 years experience facilitating structured curriculum and activities with teens Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple activities, schedules and priorities Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and navigate shared responsibilities Minimum of 21 years old and valid AZ driver’s license Dependable vehicle with proof of current registration and valid insurance.
