General Production Worker

Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description
This role supports production by cleaning and staging finished products for shipment, performing basic mechanical operations, and assisting with material handling. You will help prepare the shipping area, then transition into tasks such as measuring, bending, cutting, and assembling piping products while using hand and power tools in a clean, organized environment.
Responsibilities

• Clean and stage the shipping area with finished products during the initial phase of employment (approximately 24 days).
• Measure, bend, cut, and assemble final piping products according to specifications and instructions.
• Perform general mechanical operations using hand and power tools such as drills, saws, and hammers.
• Handle materials safely and efficiently, including moving components and products throughout the work area.
• Pick parts accurately from inventory or storage locations to support production and assembly activities.
• Use grinding and deburring tools to finish fabricated metal components to the required quality standards.
• Operate basic production and manufacturing equipment as needed in a non-machine shop environment.
• Read and interpret tape measurements and simple instructions to ensure accurate cuts and assemblies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, especially around grinding and polishing equipment.
• Collaborate with team members and follow direction to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
• Learn new tasks quickly and adapt to changing production needs and priorities.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical operations.
• Experience using hand and power tools, including drills, saws, hammers, and similar equipment.
• Prior production or manufacturing experience in a hands-on, shop or plant environment.
• Capability to perform grinding and deburring tasks on fabricated metal components.
• Experience with general production work, including machine operation and material handling.
• Ability to interpret basic instructions and follow standard operating procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when measuring, cutting, and assembling parts.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tasks quickly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with blueprints or basic drawings to guide fabrication or assembly work.
• Familiarity with saw operation and safe cutting practices in a production environment.
• Previous exposure to manufacturing environments that use grinding and polishing equipment.
• Comfort working with both hand tools and power tools for extended periods.
• Ability to work effectively in a smaller, focused production area adjacent to a cleanroom.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset.

Work Environment
The work environment is very clean and located directly next to a cleanroom, offering a neat, organized, and professional setting. This is a non-machine shop environment with tile floors, providing a more comfortable surface compared to traditional shop floors. You will work in a smaller room equipped with grinding and polishing equipment for fabricated metal components, as well as hand and power tools used for cutting, bending, and assembling piping products. The setting emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and orderliness while supporting hands-on mechanical and production work.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
