Job Summary Completes Minimum Data Set (MDS) requirements in compliance with State and Federal Regulations governing the Resident Assessment process, within required time frames and criteria, including the implementation of CAT’s and CAA’s; must perform and tolerate a busy work pace; must communicate courteously and respectfully with Residents, Employees and others. Qualifications Registered Nursing License in good standing in Mississippi; must possess or attain MDS Certification within first year of accepting position; must attain Case Mix Training as requested; prefer 3 years clinical experience, with minimum 2 years in Long‑Term Care; must have thorough knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, LTC Regulations and guidelines; must have basic computer skills in Microsoft Office, have excellent oral and written communications skills; must pass drug screens and have a satisfactory Criminal History Background Check. Responsibilities Tracks due dates for MDS; coordinates and conducts development and completion of Resident Assessment Process in compliance with company policies, State and Federal Regulations Ensures compliance/completion of the MDS within pre‑set time frames and criteria Assists in the development of a comprehensive Resident assessment and Care Plan for each Resident as Chairperson of the facility’s Interdisciplinary Care Plan Team Disseminates any new or updated materials involving the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process Facilitates the involvement of appropriate healthcare professionals to improve and/or maintain the Residents’ functional abilities at the highest practicable level Oversees the timely electronic transmission of all Minimum Data Sets and ensures the validity of all MDS’s before electronic transmission / submission Reviews the validation report and ensures that appropriate action is taken as necessary Attends Care Plan meetings to assure compliance with State and Federal guidelines Serves on Pre‑Admission Screening Team, Quality Assurance Committee and others as assigned Conducts a monthly review of a random sampling of at least 2% of MDS’s to ensure accuracy and consistency with the medical record Communicates with the Business Manager and Administrator on a regular basis regarding Case Mix Scores and how they impact reimbursement Monitors MDS forms and services delivered to assure criteria for the appropriate RUGS‑IV category is met Produces a RUGS‑IV Roster report at least weekly and reviews with the Administrator Obtains and maintains required licenses and/or certifications Works closely with the Medicare Consultant Nurse to ensure compliance with SNF criteria Keeps accurate records and maintains a log of all Medicare Claims Determinations Ensures Codes are same for Face Sheets, MDS Billing and Utilization Review and trains Medical Records Personnel as a back‑up Benefits Bedford Care Centers offer a comprehensive benefits package to our full time employees.
