JOB SUMMARY:

Reports to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Nursing Services and assist the SVP of Nursing in directing the daily agency-wide nursing operations. This leadership role drives the development of health assessment processes, medication policies, and evidence-based clinical quality improvement initiatives. The Vice President (VP) collaborates closely with the SVP and agency staff to ensure all nursing care aligns with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Additionally, the VP serves as the primary backup to the SVP, providing expert medical consultation to clinical and rehabilitative program teams.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Workforce Management : In collaboration with the SVP of Nursing, partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit, onboard, and retain qualified nursing personnel while fostering continuous professional development.
• Personnel Supervision: Directly supervise, assign work to, and manage the performance of Registered Nurses (RNs) and License Practical Nurses (LPNs) through structured clinical and administrative evaluations.
• Operations & Strategic Planning: Partner with the SVP of Nursing to execute annual management goals and provide strategic counsel on policy formation, program objectives, and future organizational direction.
• Meeting Leadership: Collaborate with the SVP to coordinate, chair, and conduct regular nursing department meetings, clinical team consultations, and assigned agency committees.
• Quality Assurance & Evaluation: Monitor and optimize the effectiveness, efficiency, access to, and stakeholder satisfaction with agency-wide nursing and nutrition services.
• Policy Development: Collaborate with the SVP of Nursing to design, implement, and maintain compliance for nursing, medication, and clinical health protocols.
• Clinical Consultation: Provide expert clinical consultation to management and staff regarding evidence-based medication administration and health-related interventions.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local laws, corporate policies, and healthcare accreditation standards.
• Regulatory Liaison: Act as the agency liaison with key oversight bodies, including NYS OMH, OASAS, OPWDD , NYC DOHMH, and federal funding partners.
• Business Development: Participate in the creation of proposal responses (RFPs) for new programs and represent the agency at external professional meetings.
• Training & Staff Education: Supervise the development, distribution, and execution of health, wellness, and medication training materials for agency stakeholders.
• On-Call & Direct Care Coverage: Manage the triage and after-hours nursing on-call system while providing direct clinical services coverage across select programs, as needed.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of Federal and New York State laws and regulations and prevailing standards pertaining to medical and behavioral health services
• Knowledge of clinical interventions in physical and behavioral health, including evidence-based and best practices strategies for symptom relief, rehabilitation and recovery
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and electronic health records systems in use.
• Effective staff management skills: Selecting, training and developing employees; directing employees toward desired objectives; delegating, motivating, resolving problems; and controlling the essential work functions (developing performance standards, measuring results, taking corrective action and rewarding employees as appropriate)

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in nursing. Active license issued by the New York State Department of Education for registered nurse and current registration Must have 5 years of supervisory or administrative experience. Must have 2 years of post–master’s experience as a registered professional nurse including nursing experience in medical, mental health, and intellectual and developmental disabilities settings.
