Responsibilities Join Baker Tilly as a Tax Manager with our San Diego office. In this role you will serve small business and middle‑market clients, delivering tax and business advisory services and tax compliance. You will: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, managing and providing services on accounting, bookkeeping, and financial statement preparation. Review and analyze accounting records and reporting with clients, provide analysis and consultation, and communicate with clients to discuss accounting and business matters. Deliver best‑in‑class customer service with an emphasis on responsiveness, timeliness, professionalism and accuracy. Lead and plan client engagements, continuously evaluating processes and procedures and implementing efficiencies and internal control improvements. Provide recommendations for business and process improvements based on client operations, processes and objectives. Manage and build client relationships, act as liaison to address and resolve client issues, and assist team leaders in researching and providing additional services to clients. Delegate and oversee work efforts by setting goals, providing resources, removing obstacles, and scheduling deadlines to meet delivery expectations. Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal tax practices and laws. Assist with managing client engagement staffing, billings/collections and ensuring client profitability targets are met. Network and build strong internal and external relationships with clients and the community. Invest in professional development individually and through firm‑wide learning and development programs. Support the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, helping associates meet their professional goals. Qualifications 4‑year degree, CPA, Law License, or Enrolled Agent Five (5) required. Five (5) years of experience providing federal and state tax compliance, accounting and advisory services in a professional services firm. Two (2) years of supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates. Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management and communication skills. Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning. High level of software and Microsoft Suite skills. Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship preferred. Benefits and Compensation Pay range: $92,000 to $146,340, influenced by skills, experience, qualifications, degrees, certifications, work arrangements and geographic location.
