Spanish Teacher

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a Middle/Upper School Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at an independent school in West Hartford, CT.

Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:

• Teach several Spanish courses each semester for middle or upper school students.
• Provide mentorship for students on academic progress, goal setting, and overall well-being.
• Develop engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students.
• Teach Spanish language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a variety of instructional methods.
• Create opportunities for students to practice conversational Spanish and improve pronunciation.
• Organizing events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.

Spanish Teacher Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred.
• Proven written and verbal proficiency in Spanish.
• 2-3 years of previous teaching experience.
• No teaching license or credential is required.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
• Willingness to assist with school sports teams and/or school community activities.

Additional Desired Qualities:

• Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
• Ability to teach multiple languages preferred, but not required.
