This role performs a broad range of laboratory testing across multiple disciplines, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, urinalysis, coagulation, and serology. The MLS will work independently during night shifts, ensuring accurate and timely results to support patient care in a Critical Access Hospital setting.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine and complex laboratory testing across all core lab departmentsAnalyze, verify, and report test results, including critical valuesPerform phlebotomy and specimen processing as neededMaintain and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentationPerform and document quality control proceduresUtilize Laboratory Information System (LIS) for documentation and reportingMaintain compliance with all regulatory and safety standardsRequirementsEducationDegree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field with completed clinical trainingExperienceMinimum 2+ years of recent hospital laboratory experience requiredStrong generalist experience requiredPrevious Critical Access Hospital experience preferredCerner EHR experience requiredCertificationsASCP (MLS/MT) or AMT certification requiredAHA BLS certification requiredSkillsAbility to work independently on night shiftStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsExperience across multiple lab disciplinesComfortable in a fast-paced, rural hospital settingAdditional InformationTraveler must be comfortable working independentlyFloating may be required within scope (including phlebotomy)Must be able to adapt to rural healthcare environmentAbout the FacilityPagosa Springs Medical Center is a Critical Access Hospital located in southwest Colorado, serving a rural mountain community.
