Insurance Recovery Associate

Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking a talented Insurance Recovery Associate with at least 4 years of relevant experience to join its nationally recognized Insurance Recovery and Counseling practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney with experience representing policyholders to work on sophisticated policyholder-side insurance coverage matters, coverage disputes, complex recovery matters, and strategic counseling across a broad range of industries. This role offers substantial responsibility, meaningful client contact, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced partners in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities Represent corporate policyholders in complex insurance coverage litigation, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution proceedings involving D&O, Cyber, RWI, CGL, Environmental, E&O, Property/Business Interruption and other first‑ and third‑party coverages. Advise clients on insurance recovery strategy and a broad range of coverage issues. Analyze and interpret complex commercial insurance policies, endorsements, exclusions, and coverage provisions. Draft coverage analyses, pleadings, motions, briefs, and substantive legal memoranda. Assist clients in securing defense and indemnity coverage for third‑party liability claims and other significant losses. Work closely with clients, insurers, brokers, adjusters, and underlying defense counsel to advance insurance recovery objectives. Support all phases of litigation, including factual development, discovery, motion practice, and hearing or trial preparation. Qualifications At least 4 years of relevant experience in insurance recovery, insurance coverage litigation, or policyholder‑side coverage counseling. Demonstrated experience representing policyholders and experience counseling clients on insurance recovery. Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment. High degree of professionalism, initiative, sound judgment, and attention to detail. Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials. Admission to the applicable state bar and in good standing, or ability to obtain admission promptly.
